The problem artists have

You can only sell an original once.

What if two or more people want to buy it?

Some artists make prints to solve this problem.

In order to make prints, you must first make a digital copy.

This is where many people get stuck.

How do you make a viable digital version of your art???

This can be done with a camera,

but there are lots of variables and pitfalls.

You can also use a scanner,

but most scanners are way too small.

What do you do if you want professional quality art scans?

How Do I Get Started?

Step 1.

Call or text 720-957-4699 to arrange your free in person consultation and art evaluation.

If you already have your image file(s) ready to go, skip to step 4.

Step 2.

Bring the artwork you want scanned to my studio. I can then evaluate things like size, medium etc. We can discuss what your looking for in terms of quality and I can give you an estimate of cost. You leave the artwork with me so I can scan it and edit the image file.

Step 3.

Once I have your artwork scanned and edited, I call you to view the proof copy. If you're happy with the results, you take your artwork home and order prints if you want them.

If you want additional edits we can do that together on the spot. I also provide you with a full resolution copy of your master image file and a web version for posting online.

Step 4.

Make Giclées (Optional)

Giclée is a fancy, expensive sounding French word used by artists to distinguish prints from originals.

Translated to English it means "to squirt".

Basically, any high quality art print made with archival grade media and ink using a professional grade ink jet printer is a giclée.

You can also just call it a print. Giclée prints can be on canvas or paper. You can make 1 or 1000's.  They can be any size.

Some artists create "limited editions". Then they sign and number each one and sell them sequentially.

The lower numbers are usually more desirable to own and are sold at the ground floor price, so their value increases the most.

After the artist sells a certain number, they increase the price. This keeps happening until they sell out.

Other artists create open editions and there is no set number. They make them 1 at a time or in small batches and sell as many as they can.

I can make you as many or as few giclées, as you like, in any desired size up to 44 inches x 20 feet. You can also take your file to any giclée shop in the world and get your prints made. You own your file and the copyright, so you're always in control.

The Studio

 The new normal

Before Covid, I was the color correction specialist and print production manager at Van Gogh Again Editions, one of the oldest and largest art reproduction shops in the Rocky Mountain region.

Now I run my own home studio in Lafayette Colorado.  I'm a lot happier as a result.

a staircase in a house with a blue door
a room with a piano and a painting on the wall

I'm cool with that!

The pandemic certainly has it's silver linings.

One of them is getting to work by appointment from my house instead of driving back and forth to a big metal building and working under artificial lights 5 days a week.

The views here are much nicer too.

Let there be light

An abundance of windows provides an ideal natural lighting environment perfect for proofing.

My name is Prints

High quality equipment makes high quality products.  I use the very latest Canon PRO 4100 Professional Giclée Printer for results that just can't be equaled with older machines.

The right tool

The new Contex professional flatbed scanner produces image captures of unrivaled fidelity.

The scans I'm getting from this new machine are light years ahead of the quality that I was able to obtain with Van Gogh Again's antiquated gear.
