Art Scanning & Giclée Printing
The problem artists have
You can only sell an original once.
What if two or more people want to buy it?
Some artists make prints to solve this problem.
In order to make prints, you must first make a digital copy.
This is where many people get stuck.
How do you make a viable digital version of your art?
This can be done with a camera,
but there are lots of variables and pitfalls.
You can also use a scanner,
but most scanners are way too small.

I help artists
My name is Brian Smith.
I'm an Artist, Photographer and an Art Reproduction Specialist based in Boulder Colorado.
For the past 13 years I have been helping creatives like you make high quality prints of original artwork and photos.
I can also teach you how to make more money selling archival prints.
My past clients have included everything from the highest paid professionals in the business to beginning hobby artists making their first prints.
I work from my beautiful studio in North Boulder.
My mission is to provide high level, personalized
art reproduction and photo printing services to a
small group of painters, illustrators and photographers.
My ideal clients are artists & photographers that want to work exclusively with a well equipped and skilled professional who understands their creative style.
I can offer you the kind of attention to detail and customer service that you won't get from the big giclée or photo printing shops in the Denver Boulder Area.
My print prices are good too.
I use state of the art scanning and printing equipment to achieve stunning results that were not even possible with the technology available 10 years ago.
If you're looking for superior quality in every respect, delivered with great customer service perhaps we would be a good fit.
I am currently accepting new clients
I invite you to contact me for a free consultation. Phone text & email are all great ways to get in touch. If you're in North Boulder, feel free to drop by Monday-Friday 10-3.
The new shop is located in the heart of the NoBo Art
District at 4688 Broadway #B. I'm around just around
the corner from Spruce Confections and 2 doors south
of Mercury Framing.
How Do I Get Started?
Step 1.
Call or text 720-957-4699
to arrange your free in person consultation and art evaluation.
If you like you can also just drop by the new shop Monday-Friday 10-3.
If you already have your image file(s) ready to go, skip to step 4.
Step 2.
Bring the artwork you want scanned to my studio. I can then evaluate things like size, medium etc. We can discuss what your looking for in terms of quality and I can give you an estimate of cost. You leave the artwork with me so I can scan it and edit the image file.
Step 3.
Once I have your artwork scanned and edited, I call you to view the proof copy. If you're happy with the results, you take your artwork home and order prints if you want them.
If you want additional edits we can do that together on the spot. I also provide you with a full resolution copy of your master image file and a web version for posting online.
Step 4.
Make Giclées (Optional)
Giclée is a fancy, expensive sounding French word used by artists to distinguish prints from originals.
Translated to English it means "to spray or squirt".
Basically, any high quality art print made with archival grade media and ink using a professional grade ink jet printer is a giclée.
You can also just call it a print. Giclée prints can be on canvas or paper. You can make 1 or 1000's. They can be any size.
Some artists create "limited editions". Then they sign and number each one and sell them sequentially.
The lower numbers are usually more desirable to own and are sold at the ground floor price, so their value increases the most.
After the artist sells a certain number, they increase the price. This keeps happening until they sell out.
Other artists create open editions and there is no set number. They make them 1 at a time or in small batches and sell as many as they can.
I can make you as many or as few giclées, as you like, in any desired size up to 44 inches x 20 feet. You can also take your file to any giclée shop in the world and get your prints made. You own your file and the copyright, so you're always in control.
